A night of fun, friendship and faith for your kids.
We are thrilled that your family is considering trying out Awana! Our goal is to provide a place where your child is safe, experiences God’s love, and grows spiritually. Whether your child has high energy or is a bit shy, they have a place here.
-
When you walk into our main entrance, you will see our Check-In Table. Our friendly leaders will greet you, help you register and, if you’d like, give you a quick tour so you know exactly where your child will be.
If you’ve already registered, plan on showing up around 5:50 and we’ll get you a copy of our Parents Guide and help you become acquainted with the program. If you haven’t, show up a few minutes earlier to fill out a registration form.
-
Please dress your kids in comfortable clothes (similar to how they might dress for PE). We recommend sneakers for Game Time.
If your child has a Bible, we encourage them to bring it. No problem at all if they don’t have one - we’ll make sure they go home with one!
Note: We ask that kids through middle school leave toys and electronics at home so that they can fully disconnect and jump into activities and friendships.
-
We find that kids settle in best when they can jump right into the fun with their peers. While they are in Club, we invite you to our Wednesday Night Prayer Meeting at 6:45 PM in the Sanctuary. It’s a great way for the whole family to grow spiritually.
Note: To keep our spaces safe and focused, we ask that parents do not remain in the classrooms during Club.
-
Our clubbers and students work through three high-energy rotations:
Game Time is fast paced, team-building fun in our Fellowship Hall.
Small Group Time is where we work through handbooks, pray as a group and focus on relational ministry.
Large Group Time is where our Club Directors lead an age-appropriate Bible lesson which sometimes includes music and awards.
-
The handbook is your child's personal guide through the Awana year. It contains their weekly memory verses, Bible stories, and fun at-home activities.
Each week your child will be assigned a section to work on in their handbook. During Small Group Time, our leaders listen to them recite their verses, help them understand the meaning behind the Scripture, and sign off on the completed section. Completing sections is also how clubbers and students earn their uniform awards!
You don't need to worry about getting a handbook before you arrive. We will provide your child with a short starter booklet on their very first night. Once they finish that, we will make sure they get the exact handbook they need for their age group.
Elementary and Middle School aged children will receive an abbreviated handbook their very first year of attending to help them out.
Awana offers samples of what their handbook looks like on their website: http://clubs.awana.org/about/

Our Club is blessed as a fully funded ministry of Kennebec Valley Baptist Church. We do not require payment for children to participate in our club. If you feel led to contribute to our club financially, we have a ‘dues’ bin at check-in. Suggested dues are $1.50 per clubber each night which goes to club snacks, activities and events.
-
We know you’re trusting us with your most precious treasure. We take that seriously:
Our check-in/check-out process ensures kids only leave with authorized adults. When you register your child, make sure you list anyone who could possibly pick them up!
Every leader is background-checked, trained and abides by our Child Protection Policy, which is in line with industry standards for accountability and child safety.
We have many first-aid certified staff and an AED on site. Our physical facility is monitored by staff and CCTV throughout the night.
-
When you register your child, we will ask what allergies they might have, or if there are any behavioral notes that we should be aware of.
Our snacks do not include tree nuts, shellfish or whatever is in caviar. That being said, if your child has an allergy to food dyes, wheat, or dairy, we’d like to know. For more obscure food allergies, it might be helpful to pack a small snack with your child or give us a heads-up so that we can be informed on your child’s needs.
Many of our leaders are trained on working with a variety of kids. If your child might need some special attention (ASD, ADHD, Anxiety, medications that wear off in the evenings, etc.) please let us know so that we can reach out and learn how to best support your child.
-
Our Club directors for each age group are passionate about children’s ministry, and are some of the best people to contact if you have any questions.
